#5 of 2012: The True Meaning of Smekday by Adam Rex
This book was such an adventure! I’ll admit that at first, I wasn’t too hooked by the idea of an alien invasion but as pages flew, Tip was able to convince me that her story about the Boovs’ invasion over Earth-turned-Smekland was something I didn’t want to miss out on. Packed with photos, sketches, and comic trips and told in a non-conventional way, it was a journey full of not only LOLs but of insights, too. It made me think about the human race - how small we could possibly be in this vast universe and so on. NO, DON’T GET TURNED OFF BY THAT, this story is not preachy at all, but really up to you, if you want to read between the lines.Yay!s-Tip’s Boov fugitive turned best friend was named J.Lo and spoke broken English! Somuchfun times.-Tip’s cat was named PIG and played quite an important role - though minute - in all the adventures.-The trio - Tip, J.Lo, and Pig - dropped by the Happy Mouse theme park, which served as an underground hideout for the kids who were “fighting off” the Boov invaders by not following their orders of moving to their assigned new home (the state Florida).Boo!-There were some chapters or pages Adam Rex could have done without. Those killed 20% of my interest to move on. But yeah, only 20%!
