#122 of 2011: Shopaholic Takes Manhattan by Sophie Kinsella
I don’t remember much about the first Shopaholic book but I remember everything about the movie so when I plunged into this sequel, I knew how to work around the story in a way that I’d enjoy it. It worked. Becky Bloomwood was still as funny as hell, and uhm, bloody stupid about her expenses. This time around she’s in New York with her workaholic boyfriend Luke and shit happened - Becky’s money-messing skills got splashed all over the British tabloids and on the v. important day Luke was supposed to bag all his biggest clients in the city, at that. So a lot of shit happened afterwards, which continued until after she went back to London, but of course, everything got sorted out by the end. One thing that I think I will always love about these books is Becky’s best friend Suze. I’d like HER to be MY best friend, really. I’d like one of Sophie Kinsella’s books to be about her.
